About Us

Hello, My name is Joy Blakemore and Words that Talk Limited is my baby.

Born from a real love for both the written word and interior design, I have created a range of decorative words and quotes that can be easily applied to your walls. These words can inspire, amuse, encourage, remind, speak and most of all Talk. They give you a hand painted professional sign written look that enables you to share thought provoking sentiments and expresses your philosophy to all who enter your home.

I am an interior designer by profession which has lead me into many areas within this wide design field. From shopfitting to handmade tiles always dabbling in words and lettering, loving the way single word can look in different fonts, colours and the impact they can have.

Working for a handmade tile company who uses words on tiles behind the Aga in a kitchen to spell out a recipe or a list of favourite wines fascinated me and I loved the way in which people thought of imaginative ways to use words in their homes.

This then developed into writing the words of a song on my daughter’s bedroom walls to create an imaginative work of art. “Sunshine on my window, that’s what you are, my shining star.” But written by hand this is a very time consuming way to express yourself and would only ever do again because of the love of being someone’s Mum!

I continued to work as a designer but always looking for that special something to fulfil my passion as an interior designer and to use my love of words and letters. Opportunity comes knocking in many different ways and though circumstances beyond my control I found myself in a “Nothing to lose situation” and Words that Talk was born.

It was a scary time but quotes like: “All Glory comes from daring to begin” – William Shakespeare and “You can if you think you can!” Gave me inspiration to believe in myself and help me to realise a dream.

We are now making vinyl lettering that are both classic and contemporary by design that can be easily applied in every room within your home.
